Good To See You!

Good morning.  If you are reading this, it means that the world did not end yesterday.  And if you stocked up on supplies for the end of the world, do you feel a little bit silly today?  You should.

I, for one, went about my life as usual yesterday, and plan to do so today.  Christmas is just a few days away, which means I should probably start shopping soon.

While it was predicted that the Mayan calendar ended yesterday, was there any indication from the Mayans themselves that the end of their calendar signaled the end of the world.  Maybe they just got tired of perpetually making a calendar.  It is doubtful they could have been so accurate as to predict the date of the end of the world.  Using the 260-day Tzolk’in version might have never coincided with the modern-day, 365 day calendar; neither would the 18 months of 20 days Haab’ version.  Both versions do not account for Leap Years, so it is not realistic to believe that the Mayans would have been so accurate in their methods.

If you are anything like me, you are happy that the world did not end yesterday.  There are still a lot of things on my “bucket list,” and the world ending yesterday would have really put a wrinkle in my plans.

Or maybe the apocalypse did occur yesterday, and we are some of the few who made it out alive.
