Get Your Tin Foil Ready

Attention conspiracy theorists, you might want to stock up on some tin foil for your new hats.  And do it quick!  tin-foil-hat

In case you had not heard, President Obama will be sworn in for his second term this weekend.  And, because so many people want to make everything about him into some non-story, I am sure that the conspiracy theories will abound once more people realize that he will actually be sworn in twice over the next few days.  Twice!  A sure sign that he is trying to become dictator-for-life in our country.  Luckily, thanks to the fact that he has not had time to erase the 2nd Amendment, we have plenty of folks at the ready when the government sends troops to knock on our doors Sunday.  Or Monday.  Crisis averted, I hope.

Back to the potential for conspiracy.  President Obama, as mandated in the Constitution (20th Amendment) will be sworn in Sunday around noon.  And then (gasp!), he will be sworn in again Monday in a public ceremony as a matter of tradition.  I’m sure if I looked hard enough online, I can find someone, somewhere, who thinks that it is unprecedented (and illegal!) for him to be sworn in twice.  While it is uncommon, it is not unprecedented.

Thanks to leap years and seven day weeks, it is rare that a President have two ceremonies.  The last time this happened was January 1985, when President Reagan was sworn in for the second time.  But the most fervent anti-Obama person will not let that fact get in the way of trying to claim that Obama is an un-American communist, socialist, Muslim who is only being sworn in twice to cement his title as Dictator of the United States.  Or something like that.  I can’t really keep up with the nonsense anymore.
